Heavy rain on the Badrinath highway on Monday morning brought a huge amount of debris to the landslide zone Umatta. In such a situation, about 40 vehicles were stopped at Langasu itself. NHIDCL machines removed the debris and after three hours the movement of vehicles was smooth. Umatta has become a new landslide zone on the Badrinath highway. Heavy debris came on the highway here due to rain on Monday. SHO Rakesh Bhatt said that the highway was closed at around six o’clock. As soon as the information about the closure of the highway was received, about 40 vehicles were stopped at Langasu. After this, the debris started being removed with JCB and the highway was opened at nine in the morning. At the same time, Ankit Rana, manager of NHIDCL (National Highway and Infrastructure Development), said that machines are continuously working in Umatta and the debris is being disposed of.

Gadera in spate

Due to heavy rain, the Gadera of Siwai overflowed on Monday morning, due to which the temporary road connecting the Badrinath highway to the railway station Siwai was washed away in the overflow of the Gadera. Now the railway officials are trying to build a road by laying hume pipes in the stream. Max Company’s construction manager Anuj Pandey said that water is continuously coming from the stream and hume pipes are being laid to pass it. Two machines have been working continuously since morning.
