Political parties are busy preparing vigorously for the Uttarakhand three-tier Panchayat elections. According to the revised notification issued on June 28 regarding the Panchayat elections, the nomination process went on from July 2 to 5. After this, the process of scrutiny of nomination papers and then withdrawal of nominations was completed on July 10 and 11. During the withdrawal of nominations, 5,019 candidates have withdrawn their names, with this, in the Panchayat elections being held in 12 districts of the state, now 22,429 candidates including 1,361 Pradhans have been elected unopposed. Now 32,580 candidates are left in the fray. State Election Commission Secretary Rahul Kumar Goyal said that 60028 candidates had filed nominations for various posts of Panchayat elections. Out of these, 32,580 candidates are now left in the fray for 11,082 posts.

Eight candidates elected unopposed

The fate of 17,829 candidates in the first phase and 14,751 candidates in the second phase will be sealed in the ballot boxes. Eight candidates have been elected unopposed for the Zila Panchayat member. 1,587 candidates will contest for the remaining 350 posts. 240 candidates have been elected unopposed for the Kshetra Panchayat member. 9,194 candidates are in the fray for the remaining 2,732 posts. 1,361 candidates for Pradhan Gram Panchayat have been elected unopposed.

Now 17,564 candidates are showing their strength for 6,119 posts. 20,820 candidates for member Gram Panchayat have been elected unopposed. Now 4,235 candidates are in the fray for 1,881 posts. According to Secretary Goyal, the Commission is committed to conduct the three-tier Panchayat election transparently and fairly.
