The scrutiny process of nomination papers for the three-tier Panchayat General Election-2025 of Uttarakhand was completed on July 9. According to the State Election Commission, out of a total of 63,509 nominations filed for various posts, 3,382 were rejected and 60,127 nominations were found valid. Out of 1,885 nominations filed for the post of District Panchayat member, 37 were rejected and 1,848 were found valid. Out of 11,430 nominations for the post of Area Panchayat member, 317 were rejected and 11,113 were declared valid. Out of 21,876 nominations for the Pradhan Gram Panchayat, 297 were rejected and 21,579 were found valid.
Commitment to conduct free elections
The highest number of 28,318 nominations were filed for the post of Gram Panchayat member, out of which 2,731 were rejected and 25,587 were found valid. Now in the next phase, candidates can withdraw their nominations on 10th and 11th July from 8 am to 3 pm. Only after the withdrawal of nominations will it be clear how many candidates were elected unopposed and for which posts there will be a contest. The State Election Commission has reiterated its commitment to conduct fair, transparent and free elections.
