The district administration has taken a big step towards reducing the traffic problem of the city. On the initiative of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, the modern automated mechanical parking scheme has been finalized in Dehradun. Soon these parking lots will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Government. In the first phase of the scheme, parking facilities have been prepared in District Hospital Coronation, Tibetan Market and Parade Ground. These parking lots are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and provide facilities for maximum vehicles in a very limited space. A technical operator has also been deployed for operation of the staff parking of Coronation Hospital, which is currently running the parking successfully.

The parking capacity is as follows:

Parade Ground: 96 vehicles

Tibetan Market: 132 vehicles

Coronation Hospital: 18 vehicles

These three parking lots have been designed in such a way that they can be shifted to other places if required. This facility is available for doctors and nursing staff at Coronation Hospital, which has increased the general parking space for patients and attendants. Along with this, the capacity of ground parking has also increased.

District Magistrate Savin Bansal said that this initiative is a concrete effort towards realizing the Chief Minister’s vision of modern Uttarakhand. Two skilled technical operators have been deployed for the smooth operation of these parking spaces and insurance coverage for them will also be provided from the district plan.

Expectations from automated parking:

Relief in traffic jam

Facility of more vehicles in limited space

Improvement in parking system at public places

Reduction in traffic pressure

This innovation of the district administration can prove to give a new direction to the traffic system of Dehradun. The possibility of replicating this model in other parts of the city is also being considered.
