CDS General Anil Chauhan clarified that during ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 10, drones and armed techniques were used by Pakistan, but due to the readiness of the Indian security forces, there was no major damage. This operation underlined the importance of indigenous techniques in dealing with drone attacks.
Need to develop indigenous solutions
Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan said during a workshop and exhibition organized at the Manekshaw Center that ‘Operation Sindoor’ has proved that India will have to develop indigenous solutions instead of relying on foreign technology for its security. He said that in this operation on May 10, Pakistan used unarmed drones and ammunition, but most of them were successfully neutralized by the Indian security forces. Some drones were also seized in good condition.
Develop counter-UAS technologies on our own
General Chauhan said, “Such attacks show that now the time has come for us to develop counter-UAS technologies on our own. This should be part of our security policy.” On the role of drones, he said that drones have now become a revolutionary tool in the war scenario. He said, “The development of drones may be gradual technically, but their use in the battlefield has been very revolutionary. Our forces are now rapidly incorporating them in strategic operations.”
Objective of the exhibition
This exhibition and workshop organized at the Manekshaw Center was organized by the Integrated Defense Staff Headquarters and the Center for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS). Its purpose is to promote indigenous alternatives in place of imported technologies in the defense sector. This initiative will not only increase India’s strategic self-reliance, but will also give new energy to domestic defense industries in research and manufacturing. This step will also strengthen the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaigns.
