The Dehradun district administration has taken an important step towards realizing the vision of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami of “Modern Uttarakhand”. Automatic mechanical parking facilities have been developed at three places—Coronation Hospital, Tibetan Market and Parade Ground—with the aim of reducing traffic pressure in the city and getting rid of the parking problem. Chief Minister Dhami will soon inaugurate them.
Vehicles are now being parked automatically
This state-of-the-art parking facility has been brought into pre-operation at Coronation Hospital. Vehicles of the hospital staff are now being parked automatically, making more ground-level space available for patients and attendants.
The special thing about these parking spaces is that along with having more capacity in less space, they can also be shifted to other places as per requirement.
Coronation Hospital: 18 vehicles
Tibetan Market: 132 vehicles
Parade Ground: 96 vehicles
The testing and trial commissioning process has been completed in all the parking lots and they will be opened to the public soon. This initiative is considered to be an effective solution to traffic management for densely populated cities like Dehradun.
Special focus on safety and operations
Two skilled technical operators have been deployed for parking operations under the leadership of District Magistrate Savin Bansal. Also, insurance cover facility has also been provided in case of any damage to the vehicles. DM Bansal said that this scheme is not only a successful experiment, but the possibility of building similar multi-level automated parking facilities is also being explored in other urban areas in the future. In line with the vision of the Chief Minister, this initiative will not only make the parking system of the city smart, but will also provide a better traffic experience to the citizens.
