Four Kanwar pilgrims who were drowning while bathing in the Ganges had a narrow escape. The SDRF team deployed on the spot showed promptness and took out the pilgrims flowing in the strong current of water safely. Three incidents are at Kangra Ghat and one at Premnagar Ghat. While bathing at these ghats, the Kanwar pilgrims went into deep water. Fortunately, the rescue team reached the spot in time and saved everyone’s life.

Bathe only at marked and safe ghats

Let us tell you that the three Kanwar pilgrims rescued by SDRF at Kangra Ghat include 17-year-old Rohit from Rohtak in Haryana, 40-year-old Santosh, a resident of Karnaprayag in Uttarakhand and 15-year-old Rohan from Patiala in Punjab. At Premnagar Ghat, there is 20-year-old Sanjay Ganga from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. He was rescued and taken out safely. SDRF Deputy Inspector Pankaj Kharola said that his teams are deployed at all major ghats during the fair. Constant vigilance is being maintained. He has appealed to the Kanwar pilgrims to take bath only at marked and safe ghats.
