The capital Delhi is once again in the headlines in terms of pollution, in the month of April, Delhi was at the fifth position in the list of most polluted cities in the country. This clearly shows that Delhiites are still not able to get clean air. Just imagine how terrible the situation will be in winter when this is the situation in summer.

Average PM 2.5 level 119 micrograms per cubic meter

According to a recent report released by the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air, i.e. (CREA), the average PM 2.5 level of Delhi in April was 119 micrograms per cubic meter, which is eight times more than the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO). This level of PM 2.5 is not only dangerous for health, but staying at such a level of pollution for a long time also increases the risk of serious problems like respiratory diseases, heart disease and cancer.

90 percent cities are more polluted than safe standards

The report also revealed that out of 273 cities in India, 248 cities, i.e. about 90 percent cities, were found to be more polluted than WHO’s safe standards in the month of April. The most polluted cities in the report mainly include cities of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana. According to the report, Burnihat is in the first place among polluted cities, Siwan in the second, Rajgir in the third, Ghaziabad in the fourth and Delhi in the fifth place. Out of 30 days in the month of April in Delhi, there were 24 days when the level of PM 2.5 was more than 60 micrograms per cubic meter, whereas according to the WHO standard, this level is safe only up to 15 micrograms per cubic meter. This shows that the air of Delhi is not only bad, but is constantly in the dangerous category.
