Srinagar: The Garhwal University has canceled the BA fifth semester Hindi exam due to the question paper being out of syllabus.
The exam has been canceled for all centers affiliated with the university. Students expressed their anger over the out-of-syllabus questions and called it university negligence. The exam will now be held on January 6.
Under the new education policy, local languages and literature were added to the curriculum, but students allege that they are being given questions based on the old curriculum instead of the new one. On Tuesday, students at the university’s Birla campus refused to take the exam.
Students stated that the questions were supposed to be related to local literature, but instead, they were given questions related to the history of Hindi literature. Student Priya Kumari said that the question paper was out of syllabus, leading the students to decide not to take the exam and leave the examination hall.
