Security arrangements have been tightened before the start of the Amarnath Yatra. The CRPF has tightened surveillance on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) for this annual pilgrimage starting from July 3. K-9 dog squads and additional forces have been deployed to protect the pilgrims, especially in sensitive areas like the Udhampur sector. The first batch will leave from Bhagwati Nagar base camp on July 2. In a high-level meeting regarding this, suggestions from other stakeholders including police, religious organizations, hotels and trade associations were included.

Sturdy arrangements for the facilities of the passengers

Commissioner Ramesh Kumar said that strong arrangements have been made for basic facilities like accommodation, food, electricity and drinking water for the passengers. Arrangements like AC hall, langar service, mobile toilets have been made in the base camps. Passengers will get similar facilities at all rest centers on the Yatra route from Lakhanpur to Banihal. Also, offline registration facility will start for the passengers from July 1, while online registration is already on.

52 langars and 60 RFID centers have been set up

In view of security and convenience, 52 langars and 60 RFID centers have been set up in Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur and Ramban districts. The journey will be done by road instead of railways. A control room has also been set up to guide and assist the passengers.
