Tibetan spiritual leader 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso put an end to the speculations about his successor and made it clear that he hopes to live for the next 30 to 40 years. He said this in a long life prayer meeting organized before his 90th birthday on Saturday. In the ceremony organized at the main Tsuglagkhang temple in McLeodganj, the Dalai Lama said that he is constantly getting indications that the blessings of Avalokiteshvara, the god of compassion, are with him. He said, “I have always tried my best. Your prayers have been effective and I believe that I will continue to serve the people in future as well.” I am able to help people He also talked about the situation of exile.
He said, “Although we have lost our country and we are living in exile in India, I am still able to help the people by staying here.” A two-day grand event has been organized to celebrate the 90th birthday, in which many dignitaries including Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Hollywood actor Richard Gere have participated. On the occasion of the official birthday on Sunday, a cake will be cut and the Dalai Lama will bless his followers.
