Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again raised a finger at the fairness of Indian democracy. This time his target was the Maharashtra assembly elections, which he described as ‘match fixing’. Sharing a detailed post on social media, Rahul claimed that the process was influenced in five planned ways during the elections. In his article, he explained in detail how – manipulations in the appointments of the Election Commission, entry of fake names, artificially increasing the voting percentage, targeted fake voting and finally hiding the evidence were adopted.
Check the facts and seek answers
Rahul Gandhi questioned that if elections are ‘managed’ like this, then how will the common man’s faith in democracy remain? He urged the public to check the facts themselves and seek answers. Rahul Gandhi has previously questioned the functioning of the Election Commission. During a program in Boston (USA) in April 2024, he alleged that the Election Commission is no longer independent and there was a huge discrepancy in the voting data. He said that it was not possible for 65 lakh votes to fall in the last two hours.
Victory is not a general mandate
In the Maharashtra assembly elections, the Mahayuti of BJP, Shinde faction and Ajit Pawar’s NCP together won 230 seats, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi won only 46 seats. Rahul Gandhi alleges that this victory was not a general mandate but the result of planned intervention. Rahul Gandhi said that if this trend does not stop, then next time the same model will be repeated in Bihar, Bengal or other states. He called it dangerous for the health of democracy.
