After the success of Operation Sindoor, Pakistan is constantly trying to spread unrest in the border areas in panic. India has foiled these attempts, but now a controversial statement of Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has come to the fore on this entire incident, in which he has given a statement about the nuclear option.
‘Nuclear option is not on the agenda right now’: Khawaja Asif
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, while talking to a news channel, said that in the current situation, the nuclear option is not being considered. However, he warned that if the situation worsens further, its effects will not be limited only, but will be felt globally. He said, “This will not be just a regional conflict, but it can take the form of widespread devastation. Our options are getting limited due to the situation being created by India.” Asif also said that no meeting of Pakistan’s National Command Authority (NCA) has been called so far. This institution is responsible for the operation and decisions of the country’s nuclear weapons.
‘Madrassa students are our second line of defence’
In a special session of the Pakistani Parliament, Khawaja Asif made another shocking statement saying that students studying in madrasas are the second line of defence of the country, and they will be fully utilised when required. This statement has once again exposed the difference between Pakistan’s words and actions, as it has been claiming on international forums for a long time that madrasas are only education centres. Khawaja Asif also clarified about the drone attacks carried out by India on 9 May. He said that Pakistan deliberately did not respond so that the information about its air defence system would not become public.
Tension at peak on the border
Tensions between India and Pakistan deepened further when the Indian Army on Wednesday carried out precision strikes on terror launchpads located in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). These attacks were carried out in retaliation for the terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. In response, Pakistan tried to target 26 areas of India from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat with drones on Friday night. However, the Indian Defense Ministry clarified that these attacks were foiled and no major damage was caused.
