Whenever we talk about the powerful armies of the Middle East, the names of Israel and Iran come first. These two countries influence the entire region through their military strength and strategy. However, the strength and thinking of both are quite different. Israel is a small but technologically very advanced country. It has one of the most modern armies in the world, which includes air defense systems, intelligence networks and smart weapons. On the other hand, Iran is a big country, with a large population and which shows its strength through missiles, a large army and its supporting groups (such as Hezbollah and Hamas).
In recent years, tension and proxy war between these two countries have increased rapidly – especially in Syria, Lebanon and Gaza. At present, Israel appears to be technically and strategically ahead in this conflict, but Iran is also constantly strengthening its position. There are many reasons for the dispute between these two countries. The biggest reason is that their religious and political thinking is completely different from each other. Iran is a Shia Muslim country and does not recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Another major reason is Iran’s nuclear program, which Israel considers a threat to itself and tries to stop it. Also, Iran supports groups like Hezbollah and Hamas that attack Israel.
The situation worsened further on June 13, 2025 when Israel launched a major airstrike on several military, nuclear and oil centers of Iran under “Operation Rising Lion”. More than 200 fighter jets were involved in this attack and many Iranian military officers, scientists and civilians were killed in it. In response, Iran also attacked Israel with more than 100 missiles and drones, targeting Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Dimona. However, Israel’s air defense system intercepted most of the missiles.
This conflict is no longer limited to just two countries. It is affecting the whole world, especially countries like India. Iran is a big oil producing country, and if the supply of oil from there stops, then the prices of oil and diesel may increase in India, which will put a burden of inflation on the common people.
India has good relations with both the countries – oil and Chabahar port from Iran, and defense and technical cooperation from Israel. Therefore, this conflict is very sensitive for India. If the situation worsens, it may be difficult for India to maintain a balance between the two countries. Apart from this, the security of millions of Indians working in Gulf countries may also be at risk.
This is why countries like India try to reduce this conflict and appeal for peace, so that there is no war and the stability of the world remains.
