The Center has appointed Parag Jain, a 1989 batch IPS officer of Punjab cadre, as the new chief of Research and Analysis Wing (R-AW). He will replace Ravi Sinha. Ravi Sinha’s current term ends on June 30. Parag Jain’s tenure will be two years. He will assume this charge for a fixed tenure till July 1, 2025. Parag Jain is currently heading the Aviation Research Center, which played a key role in collecting intelligence about the hideouts of Pakistani armed forces and terrorist camps during ‘Operation Sindoor’. Known as a ‘super spy’ in intelligence circles, Parag Jain is known to effectively combine human intelligence (HUMINT) with technical intelligence (TECHINT). Officials say that this specialty has been important in many important operations.

When terrorists had created panic in Punjab, Parag Jain played an operational role in Bathinda, Mansa, Hoshiarpur. Earlier, he has been the SSP of Chandigarh and DIG of Ludhiana. He has handled the Pakistan desk in RAW. He has also worked in Jammu and Kashmir during the removal of Article 370 and Operation Balakot. Parag Jain is said to be a very humble officer. He has worked as an Indian representative in Canada and Sri Lanka. During his posting in Canada, he had allegedly challenged the Khalistan supporters there and repeatedly warned New Delhi that it was becoming dangerous.
