The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department will conduct an inspection campaign in the state to check the quality of medicines. In this, pharma companies and drug sellers will be strictly investigated. On the guidelines of Health Secretary and Commissioner FDA Dr. R. Rajesh, Additional Commissioner Tajbar Singh Jaggi directed all senior drug inspectors to inspect and take action. Under the campaign, samples of medicines will be collected from drug shops, warehouses and factories, which will be sent to the state analyst for investigation. If any medicine is found to be not up to the quality standards in the investigation, strict action will be taken against the drug manufacturing company and the seller.
Compromise with public health will not be accepted
Any kind of compromise with public health will not be accepted. Additional Commissioner and Drug Controller Tajbar Singh Jaggi said that in some cases it has also been found that some anti-social elements in other states are manufacturing fake medicines by illegally using the name of pharma companies of Uttarakhand. A joint raid campaign is being conducted by the General Drug Controller of the Central Government in collaboration with the drug controllers of Telangana, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh states. The State Food and Drug Control Department is continuously monitoring.
Notice issued to pharma companies
From 2023 to 2025, the department registered 53 cases on fake and substandard medicines and arrested 89 accused. Members of many interstate gangs were also involved in this. Notices were issued to 33 pharma companies to stop production. More than 65 persons have been identified and action has been taken against them in cases related to NDPS Act and fake medicines.
