Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (retd) on Friday inspected the State Emergency Operations Center located at IT Park, Dehradun and reviewed the preparations for the monsoon. He inquired about the rainfall situation, water level of rivers, condition of routes and weather forecast. During this, he also took stock of the preparations of the districts by holding a virtual meeting with all the District Magistrates and appreciated their efforts and departmental coordination.

Concrete efforts should be made according to the difficult geographical conditions

The Governor said that data based decisions, coordination between departments and community participation are very important in disaster management. He said that disaster management should not be limited to immediate needs but should be developed as a long-term strategy and concrete efforts should be made according to the difficult geographical conditions of the state. Appreciating the professional working style of the department and improvement in disaster response time, the Governor said that every challenge is an opportunity, so that preparations can be further improved. He also directed to document past experiences and develop a centralized information system to control rumors.
