The government is already fully prepared for the elections. State Panchayati Raj Minister Satpal Maharaj has said that with the removal of the ban of the Nainital High Court on the Panchayat elections to be held in 12 districts of Uttarakhand, the State Election Commission has announced the new dates for the three-tier Panchayat elections. Under the new election schedule, the nomination process will be started from July 02 and voting will be held in two phases on 24 and 28 July 2025 and the election results will be declared on 31 July 2025.
The government has already completed its preparations
Panchayati Raj Minister Maharaj said that the government had already completed preparations for the Panchayat elections in the state. A petition was filed in the High Court after the previously announced election dates. In which through this petition, the rules and circulars issued by the government on 9 and 11 June were challenged. In the rules issued by the government, the reservation roster of the state till now was considered void and a new roster of reservation was issued which was considered applicable for the first time from the current election. But the problem that was stuck regarding reservation has now been resolved.
Court not informed on time
He said that to create obstruction in the Panchayat elections, the petitioners had given wrong information to the High Court that the government had not issued a gazette notification for the new rotation system of reservation, whereas the gazette notification was done by the state government on 14 June 2025. Due to the “communication gap”, the court was not able to get the information on time.
