The Char Dham Yatra has once again been affected due to continuous rain in Uttarakhand. The Yatra has been postponed due to landslides on the Badrinath Highway in Chamoli district, while in Kedarnath also the pilgrims have been stopped due to heavy rains. The highway has been blocked due to heavy boulders falling from the rocks near Pinola on the Badrinath National Highway near Gopeshwar in Chamoli district. Due to this, the devotees going towards Badrinath Dham and Hemkund Sahib had to be stopped midway. It was told that due to overnight rain in Jyotirmath area, stones slipped from the rocks and fell on the road.
Vehicles were stopped on both sides of the highway
As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police and Border Roads Organization (BRO) team reached the spot and efforts are being made to open the route. The vehicles of the pilgrims have been stopped on both sides of the highway for the time being. Police officials said that the vehicles will be sent forward as soon as the route is cleared. On the other hand, the weather has also started testing the pilgrims in Kedarnath. It has been raining continuously since Tuesday night, due to which travellers have been stopped in Sonprayag. District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said that instructions have been given to exercise extra caution and ensure safety measures on all footpaths.
