A woman gave birth to a baby in the toilet of Srinagar-Karnprayag bus stand in Rishikesh today. Hearing the woman’s screams, the family and people present nearby immediately rushed to help. The woman, Jyoti Thapa (21), wife of Manish Thapa, belongs to a family of Nepali origin. This family works as a labourer in Brady Sen area of Karnaprayag. The woman had left for Himachal with her family today for work. When the bus stopped for a while at the Srinagar Karnaprayag bus stand, Jyoti went to the toilet.
Both mother and child are stable
In a short while, the woman’s screams were heard from there. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the health department team posted at ISBT immediately provided help. Due to the understanding and quick action of the doctor and other members of the pharmacist team, the lives of both the mother and the child could be saved. The woman was immediately sent to the Government District Hospital Srinagar through 108 ambulance service, where doctors have described the condition of both as stable.
