A heart-wrenching incident of human-wildlife conflict has come to light in Pratapnagar block of Tehri district, where a mother showed indomitable courage by saving her young son from a leopard attack. On Monday night, a leopard pounced on four-year-old boy Ganesh playing in the courtyard in Onal village of Pratapnagar block of Tehri district. But his mother Angoori Devi showed courage and fought with the leopard and saved her son’s life. The child suffered serious injuries on his head and ear in the attack, who has been referred to Rishikesh AIIMS after first aid.
Leopard activities are continuously increasing in the area
Villagers say that leopard activities are continuously increasing in the area, due to which there is an atmosphere of panic. Former village head Dalveer Singh Rana said that at the time of the attack, the mother and son were in the courtyard, when the leopard, which was lurking in the bushes, attacked them. The leopard ran away when they made noise. The forest department has sent a team to the spot and trap cameras will be installed soon. Ranger Harshram Uniyal said that financial assistance is being given to the victim’s family. Villagers have been appealed not to leave children alone.
