A large quantity of weapons have been recovered from three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists killed in an encounter with security forces in Shukru forest area of Keller in Shopian district of South Kashmir. As soon as the firing on the border stopped, the security forces have started eliminating the terrorists hiding in the house. An encounter took place between terrorists and security forces at 8 am on Tuesday in Shopian district of South Kashmir. Three terrorists including Lashkar-e-Taiba’s top commander Shahid Kutte and Adnan Shafi were killed in it. Information about terrorists found in the forests of Shukru Keller area The third terrorist has been identified as Ahsan-ul Haq Sheikh resident Muran (Pulwama). A large quantity of arms and ammunition has been recovered from the possession of the terrorists. This includes AK 47 rifles, magazines, grenades and other items. A Jammu and Kashmir Police official said that on Tuesday morning, information was received about the presence of terrorists in the forests of Shukru Keller area of Shopian district. As soon as the information was received, the Special Operation Group (SOG) of the police, 20 National Rifles (RR) of the Army and CRPF personnel swung into action. Immediately a siege and search operation was started. Seeing the siege getting tight, the terrorists started firing. The security forces gave a befitting reply. With this, the search operation turned into an encounter. All the three terrorists killed belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba. Two have been identified as Shahid Kutte and Adnan Shafi. The third is being identified.
Terrorist Shahid Kutte killed in encounter
Terrorist Shahid Kutte, who was killed in an encounter on Tuesday morning in Shopian district of South Kashmir, was a resident of Chotipora Hirpora area of Shopian. Kutte joined Lashkar-e-Taiba in March 2023. He was an A-category terrorist of Lashkar and was the top commander of the organization. Kutte was involved in many terrorist incidents and anti-national activities. He was involved in the firing incident at Danish Resort on April 8, 2024. Two tourists from Germany and a driver were injured in this terrorist attack. Kutte was also involved in the murder of BJP Sarpanch in Hirpora on May 18, 2024. He was suspected of being involved in the killing of a TA (Territorial Army) jawan in Bihibagh, Kulgam on February 3, 2025.
Ahsan ul Haq Sheikh was a C-category terrorist
Adnan Shafi, a resident of Wanduna Melhora area of Shopian, joined Lashkar in October 2024. He was a C-category terrorist. Shafi was involved in the killing of a non-local laborer in Wachi, Shopian on October 18, 2024. At the same time, Ahsan Ul Haq Sheikh, a resident of Murran in Pulwama district, was a C-category terrorist and became a terrorist on June 24, 2023.
