A red alert for rain has been issued across the state today as well. It has been raining heavily from the mountains to the plains for the past two-three days. The Meteorological Center has predicted heavy rains till August 10. Meanwhile, everyone has been appealed to be careful and alert.

Schools closed in Pauri and Uttarkashi

In the last 24 hours, normal to very heavy rains have been recorded in many districts. 222.2 mm of rain has been recorded in Maldevta of Dehradun. Meteorologist Rohit Thapliyal said that heavy to very heavy rains may occur with thunder for the next several hours. At the same time, schools will remain closed in Pauri and Uttarkashi.

The pilgrimage has been stopped for the next two days

Due to the red alert of heavy rains, the pilgrimage to Kedarnath, Madmaheshwar has been stopped for the next two days. The administration and police have appealed to all the pilgrims to stay at safe places. Here, the Kedarnath Yatra remained closed on Wednesday as well. District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said that the Yatra has been stopped keeping in mind the safety of the pilgrims.

Movement on the footpath closed for two days

Sector officers posted at halts between Sonprayag and Kedarnath have been instructed. Pilgrims and local people present in Kedarnath have been asked not to move on the footpath for the next two days.
