District Magistrate Savin Bansal has taken strict action in a serious case of land fraud and made it clear that the administration will no longer show any leniency in such cases. After a quick investigation on the complaint of Shastrinagar Tapovan resident Pulma Devi, the district administration has provided justice by getting the land transferred in favor of the victim.

Land was bought in 2007, sold again in 2020

The residential land (which was allotted for Tehri displaced people) purchased by Pulma Devi in the year 2007 in Phulsani village was sold again by the former land owner to someone else in the year 2020. This matter came to the notice of the District Magistrate during the second Janta Darshan program in the month of June, on which the DM took immediate cognizance and ordered an investigation.

The re-land ownership done in 2019 was cancelled

The investigation found that Chandru son of Amru had earlier sold the land in 2007, but in 2019 he misled the rehabilitation department and acquired land ownership on the same land again. The DM reprimanded the Infrastructure (Rehabilitation) Section Rishikesh for this gross negligence. The department sent a letter to Tehsil Vikasnagar on July 07 and directed to cancel the land ownership of 2019 and correct the records, which the tehsil administration promptly completed.

Investigation revealed: Fraud happened due to departmental negligence

The DM’s investigation revealed that despite selling the land in 2007, Chandru again acquired land ownership from the rehabilitation department in 2019. Senior Manager (Rehabilitation), Tehri Dam Project also confirmed that the land ownership was acquired wrongly by hiding the facts.

DM’s strict message – the culprits will not be spared

The District Magistrate directed to seize the vehicle of the Superintending Engineer (Tehri Dam Rehabilitation) and summon him with details. Considering the seriousness of the case, SDM Headquarters Apoorva has been nominated as the investigating officer for a detailed criminal investigation.

Administration’s clear stand – action will not stop until justice is done

DM Savin Bansal clarified that the administration will continue action in this case until Pulma Devi gets complete justice. He has also given a strict warning on the irregularities happening in the rehabilitation project. This case has now become a strict example towards transparency and justice in the district.
