Recovery as well as dismissal action will be taken against 234 absent bond-holding doctors who have passed out from government medical colleges. Also, the list of these doctors who are negligent in their duties will be made available to the National Medical Council.
They were posted in hilly districts
The state’s Medical Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat has given instructions to the departmental officials to dismiss 234 doctors who have been absent for a long time without informing, by completing MBBS studies from the state at a lower fee and violating the terms of the bond. Dr. Rawat told the media in a statement that according to a contract with medical colleges, these doctors were posted in the hilly districts of the state under the Health Department as soon as they completed MBBS studies. Where it was mandatory for them to serve for a minimum of 5 years. In case of not doing so, these doctors can be allowed to practice outside the state or in private after depositing the prescribed amount in the bond and taking NOC. But about 234 doctors posted in various hill districts of the state are absent from their place of posting without permission. Which is not only a violation of the terms of the bond but also comes under the category of indiscipline. According to the information received from the department, among the doctors who are absent for a long time, 56 are from Government Doon Medical College, 95 from Haldwani and 83 from Srinagar Medical College. At the time of admission in MBBS, they have signed a contract with the said colleges to provide services in the hilly areas for 5 years and the original documents and medical educational certificates related to the status of the said students are also deposited in the respective colleges.
Instructions to recover the amount
Considering this matter very serious, the state government has instructed the Director Medical Education to recover the bond amount from all the absent doctors as per the terms of the bond and the Director General of Health has been asked to take action for the dismissal of these careless doctors. In this regard, the Secretary Health has been directed to seek clarification from the Chief Medical Officer of the districts where the said doctors are posted and the officer in charge of the concerned hospital. After all, under what circumstances, why did the officials of the concerned district not initiate action against these doctors who were careless and absent towards their duties till the guest. The departmental minister said that the Health Department is a department directly connected to the public, hence it is necessary for the doctors, officers and personnel working in the department to understand their responsibilities and perform their duties. If any personnel is negligent in his work and responsibilities, then it will not be tolerated at any cost.
