The district administration, led by District Magistrate Savin Bansal, has once again shown administrative sensitivity by providing quick justice to the helpless. The DM court has given a big blow to the son by returning the property of the elderly couple to their name for violating the terms of the gift deed. According to the case, elderly Paramjit Singh had transferred his 3080 square feet property, which includes two large halls, to his son Gurvinder Singh through a gift deed. Under the terms of the deed, Gurvinder Singh was promised to maintain his parents, reside with them and not stop the grandchildren from meeting their grandparents.
Took refuge in the District Magistrate for justice
However, as soon as the property was in his name, the son not only distanced himself from the elderly parents, but also stopped the children from meeting their grandparents. The disappointed and neglected elderly couple took refuge in the District Magistrate for justice. The case was duly heard in the District Magistrate Court. Opponent Gurvinder Singh was sent notices several times and was also informed through public releases, but no objection was filed from his side and neither did he appear in the court.
Quick justice for the first time
After procedural formalities and sufficient opportunity, District Magistrate Savin Bansal cancelled the gift deed with immediate effect and transferred the entire 3080 square feet property back to elderly Paramjit Singh and his wife Amarjit Kaur. After this decision, tears welled up in the eyes of the elderly couple in the District Magistrate Court itself. After years of neglect and running to police stations, tehsils and subordinate courts, they got quick justice for the first time.
DM Bansal pronounced this decision using the special powers of the “Maintenance and Welfare Act”. This decision once again made it clear that the district administration is vigilant and active in helping the weaker sections of the society.
