Monsoon has picked up pace in many parts of the country and its effect is now clearly visible. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains and thunderstorms have been predicted in more than 15 states of the country in the next 24 hours. Many areas of South India—such as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam—are likely to receive light to moderate rains. Similarly, heavy rains are expected at isolated places in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Weather experts say that between June 18 and 20, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Mahe, Karnataka and Karaikal may receive heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, with speeds reaching 40 to 50 kmph.
Cloud movement continues
During this time, thunder and rain are also expected in Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra and Andaman-Nicobar Islands of West India. At the same time, movement of clouds continues in Delhi-NCR region and light rain is expected. The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for the national capital, which also forecasts strong winds at a speed of 50–60 km / h.

There are also signs of rain in hilly states like Uttarakhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Himachal. There are signs of heavy rain especially in Himachal Pradesh after June 20. Yellow alert has been issued here too. It has been raining continuously for the last 24 hours in many areas of Gujarat. The situation is worse in Botad district, where 40 people have been taken to safe places. At the same time, 5 people have gone missing after a car was swept away in the river. The monsoon becoming active in the hilly and plain areas has completely affected the weather and the situation may worsen further in the coming days.
