Today is the fifth day of the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. This conflict is not stopping. Both countries are firing missiles at each other. Meanwhile, as the ongoing conflict escalates, India has issued a new advisory for its citizens. India has asked its people to leave Tehran immediately. They have been asked to stay in touch with the Indian Embassy and stay in a safe place until proper arrangements are made to come out of Tehran. The Indian Embassy in Iran said that all Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin who can go out of Tehran using their resources are advised to go to a safe place outside the city.

The Indian Embassy in Iran has requested all Indian citizens who are in Tehran and are not in contact with the Embassy to immediately contact the Embassy and provide their location and contact number. The Ministry of External Affairs said, ‘Indian students in Tehran have been evacuated from the city for security reasons through arrangements made by the embassy. Other residents who are self-sufficient in terms of transportation have also been advised to leave the city. Apart from this, some Indians have been facilitated to leave Iran through the border of Armenia. The embassy is in constant touch with the community with the aim of providing all possible assistance.’

Process of bringing back students started

Earlier, amid increased military tension between Iran and Israel, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs had started the process of bringing back Indian students from Iran safely. Students of three universities have been taken to a safe place for the time being. Other students are also being moved. There are about 10 thousand Indian students in Iran, including 1500 Kashmiris. Most of the students are there for medical studies. According to government sources, the students are being evacuated via Armenia due to the closure of Iran’s airspace. From Armenia, the students can be brought to India via Georgia and then West Asia. The first batch of 110 students has reached the Armenia border. Earlier, the Indian Embassy arranged buses to evacuate the students from Tehran on Monday.

All Indian students from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Islamic Azad University and Iran University of Medical Sciences have been sent to safe places. Indian students of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences were sent to the city of Qom at 10 am (Iran time) from Gate No. 2 of Velenjak University. Students are also being sent to safe places from Urmia University of Medical Sciences. The Indian Embassy has spoken to the administration of Shiraz University and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. Students will be evacuated from here on Tuesday morning. The Indian Embassy has requested Arak University to help in evacuating all Indian students.
