What is the total population of India? How many Hindus, how many Muslims and how many people of other religions are there in it? What is the status of which castes? The answer to all these questions is going to be found soon. The government has made a formal announcement regarding the census across the country. The Home Ministry issued its notification on Monday, after which the work of finalizing the preparations for the census has started. The process of census starts with the release of the notification. This time the census and caste census will be started simultaneously. According to sources, the process of census and caste census will start immediately after the notification is issued on June 16. At the same time, the second and final phase of the census will start from February 2027 and will be completed on March 1.

The census will be completely digital

By February 2027, different agencies will start their work regarding the census. This process includes training the staff, collecting data by going to people’s homes, making formats, determining staff, all this. After this, the census data will be available to the country from March 1. This time the census is going to be special in many ways, because in this the citizens are going to get a new and very important option. This option is of self-enumeration… that is, people will now be able to see and update their and their family’s information themselves. Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the preparations for the census on Sunday itself. The Home Ministry informed that this census to be held in 2027 will be completely digital and very strict arrangements have been made for data security in it, so that the process of collecting and sending data is completely safe.

You will be able to fill the information yourself

After the amendment in the Census Act in 2022, this facility has been given that people will now be able to enter their and their family’s information themselves through online medium. This will be India’s first digital census. For this, a web portal named Self Enumeration Portal has been prepared by the Registrar General of India (ORGI). Through this portal, people will be able to see and update the information of all the members of their house. However, the portal will be closed a few days before the scheduled date of commencement of the census, so that the final data can be compiled.
