On one hand there is scorching heat and on the other hand there are long queues of vehicles on the highway. Due to the huge crowd of devotees and tourists for the fourth consecutive day, there was a huge jam from the highway to the inner streets of the city. The arrangements of the police-administration proved inadequate in front of the crowd and jam. The situation was such that the vehicles kept moving slowly and the passengers had to remain stuck in the jam for hours in the scorching heat. Police officers and employees also had to sweat a lot to maintain the order on the highway.

Pilgrims’ altercation with the police

At the same time, the CM’s thanksgiving rally in Mangalore put the devotees to the test in the scorching sun. Barricades were put up at various places on the highway. Due to which there were queues of vehicles for hours. This situation was on Narsan, Mangalore, Highway Bypass as well as Landhaura Laksar road. People kept insisting on going through the main highway, due to which there was a heated argument between the pilgrims and the police. The crowd started increasing in the religious city from Ganga Dussehra on Thursday. In view of this, the police had also implemented a traffic plan, but the plan failed in front of the crowd and the pressure of vehicles and on the very first day, the highway and the city streets were jammed.

Increase in the crowd of tourists

Due to Nirjala Ekadashi on Friday and then the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, a large number of people reached Haridwar from Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh. Along with this, summer holidays and Chardham Yatra are also going on, due to which the crowd of passengers and tourists has increased further. The situation did not change even on Sunday and the effect of this crowd was visible from the highway to the internal roads of the city. The pressure of vehicles was so much that there was a huge jam on Bhupatwala, Kankhal, Railway Station Road throughout the day. Local people also had to face great difficulties in going to the office as well as going out for important work.

Traffic personnel helpless in front of the pressure of vehicles

Police and traffic personnel were deployed at various places to manage the system, but they also appeared helpless in front of the increasing crowd and pressure of vehicles. In the scorching heat and hot sun, the policemen kept sweating to clear the jam. However, there is hope of some relief from the jam due to a slight decrease in the number of tourists on Monday.
