The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has come into effect in Uttarakhand from 27 January 2025. Under this, it has been made mandatory to register all marriages solemnized between 26 March 2010 and 26 January 2025 under the UCC. Currently, a fee of ₹250 is fixed for the registration of marriages performed within this period. However, keeping in mind the convenience and participation of the citizens, the state government has decided that if the registration of marriages performed before 27 January 2025 is done by 26 July 2025, then no registration fee will be payable for it.

This process is only for providing information

Apart from this, those citizens who have already registered their marriage under the Uttarakhand Compulsory Registration of Marriages Bill, 2010 or any other personal law, it is also mandatory for them to give information or acknowledgment of this registration on the portal of Uniform Civil Code. This process is only for providing information and no fee will be payable for this.

Successful online registration of more than 1,90,000 marriages

So far, more than 1,90,000 marriages have been successfully registered online under the Uniform Civil Code. The entire process of marriage registration is completely digital, due to which citizens are getting the facility of registration through online medium without any office complexities.
